Read our letter to the next Director of the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) with suggestions regarding Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) research. This letter is in response to the email "Request for Information" from NIMH asking stakeholders to give their perspective on the state of mental illness research.
TARA (Treatment And Research Advancements) presented a Meet the Experts webinar series in May which can be viewed on their website. TARA, a not-for-profit organization established in 1994, is devoted to advocacy, research and education for those affected by BPD. It offers a Helpline, educational programs for family members, and many more services.
The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) funds research on mental disorders and HIV/AIDS. An article on their website, “The Anatomy of NIMH Funding,” shows a bar graph depicting funding of these disorders over the last few years (see below).
